Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that in the meantime the election has already been held and the erstwhile Secretary namely, Hareram Das has filed an election dispute. She further submits that the petitioner has been impleaded as a defendant in the said election dispute. She further submits that June 15, 2026 has been fixed for hearing of the election dispute.

Heard the learned advocate for the Cooperative Election Commission and the Registrar of Cooperative Societies.

Since the election has already been held and an election dispute bearing no. 06/CEC of 2026 has been filed before the Cooperative Election Commission, West Bengal challenging the said election, this Court feels that interest of justice would be sub-served if the Cooperative Election Commission is directed to dispose of the election dispute within a specified timeframe.

This writ petition stands disposed of by directing the Cooperative Election Commission, West Bengal to dispose of the election dispute case no. 06/CEC of 2026 as expeditiously as possible but preferably within a period of three months from the next date fixed, i.e., June 15, 2026 without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties. Copy of the letter dated June 5, 2026 issued by the Secretary of the Cooperative Election Commission, West Bengal, is kept on record.
