Petitioner(s) Mr. Kaushik Choudhury ... for the Petitioner(s) Mr. Sagar Saha ... for the State-respondent(s) Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody since 15th January, 2026 and chargesheet has already been submitted, as such, he prays that the petitioner may be released on bail.

It has further been stated that the petitioner is innocent and there are hardly any materials to implicate the present petitioner, as such, further detention of the present petitioner will not serve any purpose.

Learned advocate for the State, on the other hand, opposes the prayer for bail. According to the State, the petitioner impersonated himself and there are materials which have been collected suggests that the petitioner is a national of Bangladesh and the offence complained of is Magistrate triable.

However, having regard to the manner in which the offence has been committed, I am not inclined to enlarge the petitioner on bail.

Hence, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is Rejected.

The learned trial court would expedite the consideration of charges, thereafter, if trial is required to be conducted, the same may be expeditiously concluded at the earliest.

Accordingly, CRM (R) 50 of 2026 is dismissed. Memo of Evidence submitted be kept with the record. Parties to act on a server copy of this order duly collected from the official website of the Hon'ble High Court, Calcutta.
