Case No. 213 of 2019 under Sections 21(c)/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, pending before the learned Judge, Special Court, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act cum Additional District Judge, 2nd Court, Berhampore, Murshidabad.

It has been submitted by the learned advocate for the petitioner that charges in this case have been framed on September 23, 2020, and thereafter there has been no progress in the trial. It has further been submitted that there are 19 witnesses which are to be examined in this case by the prosecution.

In this pandemic situation, the delay in disposal of the trial cannot be attributed to the learned Judge in the Court below. However, in view of the innocuous nature of prayer of the petitioner, I dispose of this application with a direction upon the learned Judge to make an endeavour to dispose of the trial as early as possible, preferably, within a period of one year from date without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of

the parties, after resumption of the normal functioning of the Court.

The application being CRR 1390 of 2021 is disposed of. All parties shall act upon the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court. (Kausik Chanda, J.)
