Commercial quantity of contraband item (Phensedyl) was recovered from the possession of the petitioner. In view of the restrictions in Section 37 of the NDPS Act, we are not inclined to entertain the petitioner's prayer for bail. The petitioner says that he has been in custody for about 726 days. Charge-sheet was submitted in April, 2019. There has been no significant progress in the trial thereafter. Considering the lengthy detention of the petitioner, we request the learned trial Court to expedite the trial and bring the same to its logical conclusion as soon as possible and preferably, within a period of eighteen months from date. The application for bail being CRM 4432 of 2021 is, thus, dismissed.
