And In Re : Shyamapada Mahata ..... petitioner Mr. Purnasish Gupta Mr. Jayanta Kumar Mukhopadhyay Mrs. Sruti Dey ... for the petitioner Mr. Rudradipta Nandy, learned APP Mrs. Sonali Das ... for the State Learned Counsel for the petitioner submits he is in custody for 67 days. It is also submitted petitioner is not named in the FIR nor put up for test identification parade. He prays for bail.

Learned Counsel for the State opposes the prayer for bail.

We have considered the materials on record. Allegations in the FIR state ransom amount was demanded over phone. A part of the ransom was paid. Thereafter, an account number was given to the de facto complainant to transfer the remaining sum. In the course of investigation petitioner has been arrested. Incriminating articles i.e ransom letter and plan to extort money were recovered from his residence. In view of nature of the

offence and incriminating materials on record we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage. The application for bail is, thus, rejected.
