Petitioner is directed to serve a copy of the revisional application upon Ms. Amita Gaur, learned advocate who ordinarily appears on behalf of the State. Her appointment may be regularized by the concerned Authorities in due course. Learned advocate for the petitioner has expressed his anxiety regarding the fact that the petitioner is detained since 10th March, 2022 i.e., 16 months.

Learned advocate submits that although charge was framed on 24th January, 2023, but till date out of the nine witnesses so cited by the prosecution only one witness has been examined. Having regard to the stage of the case, I direct that the learned trial court would in the present case fix a schedule consisting of three dates and fix such schedule on every sixty days so that the trial of the case can be taken to its logical conclusion within a reasonable period of time. No unnecessary adjournments should be granted to either of the parties. The Public Prosecutor

conducting the case would make available the materials, exhibits and documents on the dates so fixed for examination of the witnesses. In case any witness is present, the learned special court would communicate with the office of the concerned Superintendent of Police who is maintaining a register for progress of NDPS cases. All efforts be taken to conclude the trial within a reasonable period of time.

With the aforesaid observations, the present revisional application being CRR 1585 of 2023 is disposed of. Pending applications, if any, are consequently disposed of. All concerned parties are to act in terms of a copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this court. [Tirthankar Ghosh, J]
