5.2 litres of codeine mixture (above commercial quantity) was recovered from the possession of the petitioner. In view of the restriction in Section 37 of the NDPS Act, we are not inclined to entertain the petitioner's prayer for bail. C.R.M. No.4565 of 2021 is, accordingly, dismissed. However, the petitioner says that he is in custody for 809 days. One witness has been examined, but for a long time thereafter, nothing has happened.

In view of the protracted detention of the petitioner, we request the learned Trial Court to expedite the trial to the extent possible and bring the same to its logical conclusion as soon as

the business of the Court may permit and preferably within a period of 15 months from date.
