1. The petitioner is aggrieved that the disciplinary proceedings, initiated against him, are on flimsy grounds. The flimsy grounds, according to Mr. Banerjee, learned Advocate appearing for the petitioner, are misconduct, insubordination and restlessness.

2. The charge-sheet was issued sometime in April 23, 2026. The petitioner has not yet given reply to the charge-sheet and has approached this Court in the meantime.

3. Irrespective of whether the articles of charge are valid or of any impart, the petitioner has to face the proceedings which have been initiated.

4. The petitioner is directed to file his reply to the articles of charge by July 10, 2026.

5. Respondent authorities are directed to complete the entire process by November 30, 2026.

6. In the meanwhile, respondent authorities will not take any coercive steps on the basis of the chargesheet.

7. The timelines, as aforestated, should be strictly adhered to and the proceedings shall be terminated by a reasoned order to be passed by November 30, 2026. The proceedings will be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations prescribed by the Bengal Police Regulations, 1943.

8. In view of the aforestated, the writ petition is, thus, disposed of.

9. Urgent photostat certified copy of the order, if applied for, be given to the parties upon usual undertakings.
