The writ petitioner claims that she is entitled to reconnection of a meter standing in the name of Tushar Kanti Dutta at premises no.97/B, Narkeldanga North Road, Police Station Narkeldanga, Kolkata-700011. It is submitted by the Counsel for the petitioner that his client is ready and willing to pay final assessment of Rs.2,190/- towards reconnection. Counsel for the C.E.S.C. argues that Tushar Kanti Dutta is nowhere in picture. He further submits that the petitioner has no locus to seek reconnection or pay dues of Tushar Kanti Dutta.

The petitioner claims that she is a beneficiary of the property, having purchased the same from Tushar Kanti Dutta, she is entitled to pay outstanding dues and seek reconnection.

This Court is unable to appreciate under what law a transferee of a property can claim the benefit of existing meter standing in the name of the transferor and enjoy benefits thereunder.

It is submitted by the Counsel for the C.E.S.C. that the petitioner and her sister illegally supply electricity to their brothers and family members.

In that view of the matter, no relief can be granted to the writ petitioner in this writ petition. Accordingly, the writ petition must fail and is hereby dismissed.

There shall be no order as to costs.
