Learned advocate appearing for the Distribution Company submits that the Distribution Company is ready and willing to provide electric supply to the petitioner. At the time of inspection, the private respondents obstructed the Distribution Company. He seeks police protection.

A person in settled position is entitled to electric supply. The Distribution Company is ready and willing to provide electric supply to the petitioner. However, the Distribution Company was obstructed by the private respondents from doing so.

In the circumstances, the Distribution Company is at liberty to inspect the locale. In the event they are obstructed on such venture, they are at liberty to approach the police for protection. The local police authorities are directed to provide adequate police protection to the Distribution

Company so that the inspection is completed. On completion of such inspection, the Distribution Company, if it finds it feasible, will proceed to provide electric supply to the petitioner in accordance with law. In doing so, again should the Distribution Company face any obstruction, they are at liberty to approach the police. The local police authorities are directed to afford adequate police protection to the Distribution Company for such purpose.

Needless to say that the petitioner will pay all cost, charges and expenses and comply with formalities for the new electric supply as also the police protection.

It is expected that the entire exercise is completed within four weeks from date.

WPA 11239 of 2021 is disposed of accordingly.
