PP Ms. Sukanya Bhattacharyya Mr. Mirza Firoz Ahmed Begg .....For the State This is an application for expeditious disposal of a proceeding being N.D.P.S. Case No. 265 of 2018 arising out of Islampur Police Station Case No. 443 of 2018 dated September 11, 2018, under Sections 21(c)/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

It has been submitted on behalf of the learned advocate for the petitioner that, out of thirteen witnesses, none has been examined so far and out of the said thirteen witnesses, twelve witnesses are police personnel.

In this pandemic situation, the delay in disposal of the trial cannot be attributed to the learned Judge in the Court below. However, in view of the innocuous nature of prayer of the petitioner, I dispose of this application with a direction upon the learned Additional District Judge, 2nd Court, Berhampore, Murshidabad, to make an endeavour to conclude the trial as early as possible, preferably, within a period of one year from date of resumption of the normal functioning of the Court. The application being CRR 1423 of 2021 is disposed of.
