In view of the gravity of the offence and the prima facie involvement of the petitioner therein, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.

Accordingly, the prayer for bail is rejected. However keeping in mind the protracted period of detention suffered by the petitioner i.e. more than six years, we direct the trial court to conclude the trial as expeditiously as possible preferably within six months from the next date fixed before it for recording evidence without granting adjournments to either of the parties.
