Mr. Bhattacharjee, learned Senior Standing Counsel, who usually represents the State of West Bengal, is present in Court and is requested to appear in this matter along with a junior of his choice.

Let the appointments of Mr. Bhattacharjee along with a junior of his choice be regularized by the competent authority.

Let a copy of the writ petition be served upon the junior of Mr. Bhattacharjee in course of this day. The petitioners allege that the plots of land owned by the petitioners have been utilized for a public purpose without paying any compensation to the petitioners. The petitioners submitted a representation through their learned Advocate dated 4th May, 2026 before various authorities including the Collector, Purba Bardhaman, praying for grant of compensation.

The learned Advocate appearing for the petitioners submits that in spite of receipt of such representation, no

decision has been communicated to the petitioners till date. Mr. Bhattacharjee, learned Senior Standing Counsel submits that the decision on such representation shall be communicated to the petitioners within the time limit as may be fixed by this Court.

Without entering into the merits of the claim made by the petitioners in the representation dated 4th May, 2026, this writ petition stands disposed of by directing the Collector, Purba Bardhaman, being the fourth respondent, to consider the representation of the petitioners through their learned Advocate letter dated 4th May, 2026 and to dispose of the same by passing a reasoned order after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioners, the private respondents and any other interested parties or their authorized representatives and communicate the reasoned order to the petitioners and others immediately thereafter. The entire exercise shall be completed as expeditiously as possible but positively within a period of eight weeks from the receipt of a server copy of this order along with a copy of the representation through the learned Advocate dated 4th May, 2026.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance of all requisite formalities.
