It is submitted on behalf of the petitioner he had attempted to save his wife when she set her on fire.

Learned advocate appearing for the State submits prayer for bail of the petitioner was rejected earlier and trial is in progress. We have considered the materials on record including statements of witnesses implicating the petitioner in the alleged crime. Victim-housewife suffered burn injuries and died at the matrimonial home. In view of the aforesaid materials on record and as the prayer for bail of the petitioner was rejected earlier, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage.

The application for bail is thus rejected.

However, in view of the protracted period of detention suffered by the petitioner, we direct the trial court to conclude the trial at an early date preferable within six months from the next date fixed for recording

evidence without granting unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties.
