Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for more than four years four months and is similarly placed as the other accused person namely, Rishav Raj @ Rishav Kumar Raj @ Rishav Keshry @ Rawat @ Rahul Raj who has been granted bail in CRM (M) 607 of 2026. It has been submitted that out of the cited 69 witnesses prosecution proposes to examine 40 witnesses but till date only 7 witnesses have been examined.
Learned advocate for the State opposes the prayer for bail, however, is unable to refute the locus of the present petitioner and Rishav Raj @ Rishav Kumar Raj @ Rishav Keshry @ Rawat @ Rahul Raj.
Having considered the same, I am inclined to release the petitioner on bail. Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is allowed.
As such, the petitioner, namely, Ravi Kumar Gupta @ Karu shall be released on bail upon furnishing bond of Rs.20,000/- (Rupees Twenty Thousand only) with two sureties of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only) each, one of whom must be local to the satisfaction of the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Alipore, South 24 Parganas.
If on bail, the petitioner shall be physically present on each and every date before the learned trial Court and shall not leave the jurisdiction of Kolkata Municipal Corporation without prior permission of the learned trial Court.
Accordingly, CRM (M) No. 1201 of 2026 is allowed. All parties shall act in terms of server copy of the order downloaded from the official website of this Court. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
