1. The grievance of the petitioner in the present writ application is that the petitioner alongwith his wife Smt. Kanchan Maity adopted a minor daughter, Rachana Bera having date of birth 19th February, 2018 by way of a registered adoption deed from the original father and mother namely, Kedarnath Bera and Rekha Bera. After the adoption of the minor daughter, the petitioner has affirmed an affidavit before the learned Court of Judicial Magistrate, First Class, Contai, Purba Medinipur stating the fact and thereafter the petitioner has made an application before the Block Birth and Death Register, Rural Hospital Bagda (Mohanpur) for correction of the name of the minor in the birth certificate of the minor as Rachana Maity instead of Rachana Bera and the name of the mother as Kanchan Maity (adoptive mother) instead of Rekha Bera and name of the father as Prabir Maity (adoptive father) instead of Kedarnath Bera.

2. Counsel for the petitioner submits that in spite of receipt of the representation submitted by the petitioner dated 20th February, 2025 till date the authorities have not

taken any steps for correction of the name of the minor in the birth certificate of the minor.

3. Considered the submissions made by the counsel for the petitioner. Perused the materials on record.

4. This Court finds that the only grievance of the petitioner that the representation made by the petitioner for correction of the name of the minor as well as the adoptive father and mother is pending before the respondent no. 2.

5. Thus it would be appropriate to dispose of the present writ application by directing the respondent no. 2 to consider the representation submitted by the petitioner dated 20th February, 2025 within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of this order.

6. W.P.A. 10643 of 2025 is disposed of.

7. Urgent Photostat Certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all necessary formalities.
