Heard the learned Counsels appearing on behalf of the parties.

Petitioner is in custody for about two years. It is submitted he has been falsely implicated in the instant case. Learned Advocate for the State opposes the prayer for bail and submits petitioner is accused of murder and had attempted to murder a witness from jail.

We have considered the materials on record. Petitioner has criminal antecedents. He is in custody in connection with a murder case. Keeping in mind the aforesaid facts and the

gravity of the offence involving an attempt to murder a witness, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected.

However, trial court is requested to expedite the trial and conclude the same at an early date without granting unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties. (Ananya Bandyopadhyay,J.) (Joymalya Bagchi, J.)
