Mukherjee Mr. Abhijit Singh ...... for the petitioner Mr. Ranabir Roy Chowdhury Mr. Mainak Gupta ...... for the State Petitioner submits that a portion of the work had been done in respect of tenders in question. He had appeared before the court below upon warrant proclamation and attachment being stayed by a learned Single Judge of this court. Petitioner is in custody for 176 days.

Learned lawyer for the State opposes the prayer for bail. We have considered the materials on record including statements of witnesses which show an unholy nexus between the petitioner and co accuseds in dishonestly procuring tenders for civil work in the judicial establishment.

In view of the nature of offence involving corruption in public administration and the prima facie role of the petitioner therein, we are of the opinion this is not a fit case to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage.
