Heard the learned Counsels appearing on behalf of the parties.

Having considered the materials on record prima facie disclosing involvement of the petitioner in committing penetrative sexual assault on a minor aged about 6 years, we are of the opinion that in view of the gravity of the offence this is not a fit case to grant bail to the petitioner. Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected.

Trial court, however, is requested to expedite the trial and conclude the same at an early date without granting unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties. (Ananya Bandyopadhyay,J.) (Joymalya Bagchi, J.)
