PP Ms. Sukanya Bhattacharyya Mirza Firoj Ahmed Begg .....For the State This is an application for expeditious hearing of a case being N - 103/2018 under Section 21(C) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, pending before the learned Additional Sessions Judge, 6th Court at Barasat, North 24-Parganas.

It has been submitted by Mr. Somnath Banerjee, learned advocate for the petitioner, that the evidence has not yet been started, although the schedule for the same were fixed on three different occasions.

Mr. Saswata Gopal Mukherji, learned Public Prosecutor, appears on behalf of the State.

In view of the pandemic situation, the delay in disposal of the case cannot be attributed to the learned Judge in the Court below.

However, keeping in mind the innocuous nature of the prayer made in the petition, this application is disposed of with a direction upon the learned Judge in the Court below to make an

endeavour to expedite and conclude the trial as early as possible, preferably within a year from the date of resumption of the normal functioning of the Court.

The revisional application being CRR 1456 of 2021 is disposed of.
