Report submitted by the Legal Remembrancer, Government of West Bengal through the learned Registrar General, High Court, Calcutta be kept with the record. Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner was earlier on bail, but because of misunderstanding, he did not appear and subsequently warrant of arrest was issued and petitioner was arrested and is in custody for more than two and a half years. Learned Public Prosecutor appearing for the State submits that already final argument of the case has commenced after the prosecution witnesses were completed and examination of the accused under Section 313 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Having considered the advanced stage of the case, I am not inclined to release the petitioner on bail at this stage. As such, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected.

The application for bail, being CRM (R) 57 of 2026, is, thus, dismissed.
