Despite service, none appears on behalf of the respondent nos. 6 and 7.

The writ petition has been filed alleging overt act of the respondent no. 6 who is the Officer-inCharge of Beat House (Police Fanri), Badanganj. There are also allegations against the Panchayat Pradhan, namely, Sk. Giyasuddin, respondent no. 7 herein.

It is the contention of the petitioner that the complaint which was lodged against the respondent nos. 8 to 13 is pending investigation, but proper steps have not been taken by the police authorities.

In this writ petition, the petitioner prays for specific directions upon the police authorities to investigate into the complaints lodged against the respondent nos. 6 to 13.

Mr. Banerjee, learned senior standing counsel, submits that the police authorities have taken steps in accordance with law. A report is filed, which is kept on record.

This court finds that with regard to the complaint against the respondent nos. 8 to 13 the police authorities have registered an FIR and Goghat Police Station Case No.234 of 2021 dated August 28, 2021 had been started. Such investigation has been concluded and charge sheet has been filed. The petitioner has been relocated to her residence. With regard to the allegations against the respondent no. 6, namely, Swapan Goswami, an inquiry was conducted and the inquiry report was submitted before the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Hooghly Rural Police District. A departmental inquiry was also initiated vide Hooghly Rural Police District Proceeding No. 06/2021 dated August 28, 2021. It appears that an order of punishment has been imposed by the Superintendent of Police, Hooghly (Rural) vide order dated March 16, 2022 and annual increment of the concerned officer for a period of one year was withheld.

Thus the allegations of the petitioner that the police authorities have failed and neglected to take steps, are not correct. With regard to the allegations against the Panchayat Pradhan, the petitioner is at liberty to file a composite complaint before the Officer-in-Charge, Goghat Police Station, Hooghly. If such complaint is filed, the same shall be dealt with in accordance with law.

The report filed by Mr. Banerjee is taken on record.

The writ petition is disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.
