Heard the learned Advocates appearing for the petitioner and the State.

Petitioner had absconded for more than 15 years. Subsequently, he was arrested and is facing trial. It is contended that may be released on bail.

Learned Advocate appearing for the State opposes the prayer for bail.

Having considered the materials on record including the statement of the victim girl, we are of the opinion that in the facts and circumstances of the case particularly the long abscondence of the petitioner, this is not a fit case to grant bail to the petitioner.

Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected.

The court below is directed to commit the case at the earliest and the trial court upon commitment shall take the proceeding to its logical conclusion preferably within one

year from the date of commitment of the case without granting unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties. (Bivas Pattanayak, J.) (Joymalya Bagchi, J.)
