1. Learned counsel for the petitioner seeks a consideration of the representation given by the petitioner for widow pension under the Swatantra Sainik Samman Pension Scheme.

Such representation dated March 7, 2024 is annexed at page 27 of the writ petition.

2. Learned Additional Solicitor General appearing for the respondent authorities submits that the request of the petitioner for pension is time-barred.

3. However, learned counsel for the petitioner controverts such contention and seeks to argue the matter.

4. In view of the limited prayer made in the writ petition, however, it would be premature to enter into the merits of the matter.

5. Accordingly, WPA No. 11857 of 2024 is disposed of by directing the respondent no. 3, that is, the Under Secretary, Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Freedom Fighter Division, to decide on the representation dated March 7, 2024 annexed at page 27 of the writ petition as expeditiously as possible and inform the petitioner about the decision taken thereon in writing.

6. It is expected that the entire exercise shall be concluded within six weeks from date.

7. There will be no order as to costs.

8. Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities. (Sabyasachi Bhattacharyya, J.)
