Mr. Sen, learned counsel for the State submits that the Officer-in-Charge, Dantan Police Station is in constant touch with the petitioners and their family members. Appropriate steps shall be taken to ensure basic needs and rations to them.

Mr. Bhattacharya, learned counsel for the SIT, submits that his client has no role to play in the instant matter.

Learned counsel for the petitioners, however, places reliance on Sub-para 7 of Paragraph 82 of a judgment dated 19th August, 2021 in WPA(P) 142 of 2021 passed by a Five Judge Bench of this High Court directing compensation to be paid by the State to the petitioners.

It is expected that the issue of compensation shall be addressed by the State and payments are made within a period of two months from date after deciding on the entitlement thereof. The petitioners may be communicated with a reasoned order on the question of compensation by the State.

Notice of this order shall be served on the concerned authorities by the counsel for the petitioners. 6.

With the aforesaid directions, the writ petition shall stand disposed of.

7.

There shall be no order as to costs.

8.

All parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
