No.237 Suman CRR 2172 of 2026 Bablu Sk -vs- The State of West Bengal Mr. Subrata Karmakar Mr. Prince Akhtar ..for the petitioner Mr. Subir Ganguly Mr. Sandeep Prasad Shaw ..for the State The petitioner seeks expeditious hearing of IE Case No. 467 of 2017 pending before the Judge, Special Court-cum-Additional District Judge, Berhampore at Murshidabad. The petitioner is the sole accused in this case. It appears that charge sheet in this case was filed on August 9, 2017. Thereafter, on several dates the petitioner did not appear. As such, the copy could not be served upon the petitioner. It appears that the matter was taken up for hearing on June 5, 2026 when the petitioner was absent and the learned Judge was pleased to fix January 22, 2027 for appearance and charge.

Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that due to some personal difficulties, the petitioner could not appear before the learned Additional District Judge in the Court below. However, he undertakes before this Court to appear within two weeks from date.

In view of the aforesaid, learned Judge in the Court below is directed to conclude the charge hearing within a period of two months from the date of appearance of the petitioner. With the aforesaid directions, CRR 2172 of 2026 is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the learned advocates for the parties on usual undertakings.
