WPA 11868 of 2026 (Dipak Bag vs. State of West Bengal & Ors.) Mr. Keshab Chandra Das Mr. Biplab Adak Ms. Aparajita Mondal .... For the Petitioner Mr. Madhu Jana Ms. Puja Sonkar .... For the State Affidavit of service filed by the petitioner is taken on record.

The Panchayat is not represented despite service. The petitioner's father was an approved Gram Panchayat Karmee in Bhastara Gram Panchayat and died in harness on 22nd December, 2023. The petitioner's mother as well as the petitioner applied for appointment of the petitioner on compassionate ground before the concerned authority on 17th January, 2024 and 2nd April, 2026 respectively. The applications are yet to be considered. The petitioner seeks consideration of the same. It appears that the petitioner's mother sought compassionate appointment of the petitioner by an application submitted before the authority on 17th January, 2024. Since the application was not considered, the petitioner submitted another application in this regard on 2nd April, 2026.

In view of the above, the Block Development Officer, Dhaniakhali Development Block, being the 5th respondent herein, is directed to consider and dispose of the applications

dated 17th January, 2024 and 2nd April, 2026 within four weeks from the date of communication of this order upon granting reasonable opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, in accordance with law.

Necessary consequential steps be taken by the authority at the earliest.

The petition is disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.

Since no affidavit has been invited, allegations contained in the writ petition shall be deemed not to have been admitted.

Urgent certified website copy of the order, if applied for, be given to the parties on compliance of requisite formalities.
