The police report is taken on record. On the basis of the information given by the respondent no. 5 about the missing person (deceased victim), the police authorities entered a General Diary and an Unnatural Death Case was registered being U.D. Case No. 09/2022 dated March 17, 2022. One of the relatives of the deceased identified the body at the morgue and the father of the deceased/petitioner claimed the body.

The report also reveals that post-mortem was conducted at the SSKM Hospital on March 17, 2022 and the doctor opined that the death was due to the effects of antimortem hanging which was suicidal in nature. The police authorities did not detect any foul play.

The petitioner who is the father of the deceased is of the firm belief that the death of the victim occurred under very mysterious circumstances. No written complaint has been filed.

Under such circumstances, the petitioner is granted liberty to approach the Maidan Police Station and to file a written complaint. If such complaint is filed, the Officer-in-charge, Maidan Police Station, shall act and proceed in accordance with law. This court has not decided the correctness of the allegations made by the petitioner.

The writ petition is disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.
