Galib, Ms. Subhra Nag, ... for the State The grievance of the petitioner relates to inaction on the part of the respondent no. 7 to act in terms of the representation made by the petitioner on 10th May, 2022 in relation to the ex-gratia payment due to the petitioner on the death of her husband, who died in road accident.

Learned counsel appearing for the State submits that the representation is addressed to the Inspector-inCharge, Arambagh Police Station, whereas it should have been addressed to the Secretary, Transport Department, Government of West Bengal.

Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner has been informed that the petitioner would first have to approach the police authorities. Thereafter, the respondent authorities

should consider the claim of the petitioner as granted by the State in similar cases.

After hearing learned counsel, this Court is of the view that the writ petition can be disposed of with a direction to the concerned respondents whether the Secretary, Transport Department, Government of West Bengal or the Regional Transport Authority, as the case may be, to consider the representation made by the petitioner on 10th May, 2022 and dispose of the same by passing a reasoned order within a period of six weeks from date after hearing all the necessary parties including the petitioner. A copy of the reasoned order shall be made available to the petitioner within a week from the date of passing such order. If the petitioner is found to be entitled to the claim, the respondent authorities shall take expeditious steps to release the same in favour of the petitioner.

WPA 10847 of 2022 is disposed of in terms of the above.
