It is alleged on behalf of the state that on 24.05.2022 at about 3.10 a.m. driver of vehicle of complainant called the complainant and informed that the said vehicle was raided by the police authority and threatened to initiate police case and illegally parked the said vehicle with 500 cft. DCR and to release the same a huge sum of money to the tune of Rs.25,000/- was extorted by the petitioners and under threat compelled to transfer said amount through phone pay.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the petitioners are in custody for about 26 days and the investigation in respect of the petitioners has been advanced to a considerable extent and further detention for the purpose of custodial interrogation is no longer required and

accordingly, they may be released on bail on any terms and conditions.

Learned counsel for the State submits that investigation is still in progress and incriminating materials have been collected during investigation and he draws my attention at page nos. 38, 41 and 42 of the case diary. Considered submissions made by both the parties. In view of the facts and circumstances of the case, nature of allegation and that the investigation, in respect of the present petitioners, has been proceeded to a considerable extent, the petitioners may be enlarged on bail. As such, the prayer for bail is allowed.

Accordingly, I direct that the petitioners, viz., 1. Paritosh Biswas, 2. Goutam Majumder and 3. Rohit Singh shall be released on bail upon furnishing bond of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten thousand only) each, with two registered sureties of like amount each, one of whom must be local, to the satisfaction of the learned Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Chandannagar, Hooghly and on further condition that the petitioners shall meet the Investigating Officer once a week till conclusion of the investigation. The application for bail, being CRM (SB) 129 of 2022, is, thus, disposed of.
