The petitioner is in custody for about three years and renews his prayer for bail primarily on the ground of slow progress in trial. Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer. Bail prayer of the petitioner was turned down by this Court on 5th February, 2024 considering the material on record. The petitioner appears to be the principal assailant. There is no change in circumstance of the case which warrants a favourable order on merits at this stage. Offence, if proved, shall attract mandatory life imprisonment.

With regard to the progress in trial, this Court is informed that out of twenty-three witnesses, twelve witnesses have been examined.

In view of the material available on record, prayer for bail is rejected at this stage.

The trial Court is directed to expedite the trial without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties. The application for bail is disposed of.
