In this revisional application, the petitioner prays for expeditious disposal of the trial being Case No. N-171 of 2020, pending before learned Judge, Special Court (NDPS), 6th Court, Barasat.

It has been submitted by the learned advocate for the petitioner that out of the nine witnesses, seven witnesses are police personnel. The charge has been framed in this case, and the hearing of the case is fixed for taking evidence. It is not expected from the learned Judge in the Court below to proceed with the trial at normal pace due to the pandemic situation.

However, keeping in mind the innocuous nature of the prayer, this revisional application is disposed of with a direction upon the learned Judge in the Court below to make an endeavour to conclude the trial expeditiously, preferably within a period of one and half years from the resumption of the normal functioning of the Court.

The revisional application being C.R.R. 1562 of 2021 is, thus, disposed of.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties upon compliance with all necessary formalities.
