Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody since 15th of May, 2026 and has been politically victimized.
Learned advocate appearing for the State opposes the prayer for bail and submits that there are series of accusations against the present petitioner and the petitioner being an influential person the victims did not have the courage to lodge the complaint with the police authorities concerned.
I have taken into account the nature of the allegations which are of 2018 and 2025, having regard to the nature of the allegations and the steps taken by the investigating agency, I am of the opinion that further detention of the present petitioner is unwarranted. As such the prayer for bail of the petitioner is allowed.
As such, the petitioner, namely, Chanchal Kumar Khanra shall be released on bail upon furnishing bond of Rs.20,000/- (Rupees Twenty Thousand only) with two sureties of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only) each, one of whom must be local to the satisfaction of the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Tamluk, Purba Medinipur.
If on bail, the petitioner shall meet with the Investigating Officer of the case once in a fortnight, further petitioner should make himself available as and when called for by the Investigating Officer. Petitioner shall not leave the district of Purba Medinipur without prior permission of the learned trial Court. With the aforesaid observations, CRM (M) No. 1317 of 2026 is allowed.
All parties shall act in terms of server copy of the order downloaded from the official website of this Court. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
