Heard the learned Advocates for the parties.

We have considered the materials on record. Statements of witnesses prima facie show petitioner is one of the principal assailants. He does not stand on the same footing with coaccused who have been enlarged on bail. Keeping in mind the principal role played by the petitioner and gravity of offence, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.

Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected.
