(AB) Mr. Anadi Chakraborty .......... For the petitioner The husband of the petitioner was serving as a Peon in Banipur Mahila Mahavidyalaya. He died in harness on 12th June, 2015. After his death, the petitioner being the widow applied for being appointed on compassionate ground on 2nd July, 2015.

The grievance of the petitioner is that till date the said application has not been considered by the respondent authority.

None appears on behalf of the respondents.

The instant writ petition is accordingly disposed of by directing the College to take necessary steps for consideration of the application filed by the petitioner strictly in accordance with law, at the earliest, but positively within a period of eight weeks from the date of communication of a copy of this order.

In the event, the College is of the opinion that the petitioner is entitled to be appointed on compassionate ground, then necessary consequential steps shall be initiated by the College immediately

thereafter. The petitioner shall be intimated the fate of her application made for compassionate appointment. The application made by the petitioner before the Principal of the College on 2nd July, 2015 is retained with the records.

The writ petition stands disposed of.
