Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that despite the petitioner having applied for new electricity connection, such new connection is not being given by the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL).

Learned counsel appearing for the WBSEDCL places reliance on a communication dated May 12, 2023 made by the WBSEDCL to the petitioner indicating that the meter room of the petitioner was incomplete, for which the connection could not be given.

Learned counsel for the WBSEDCL further submits that WBSEDCL has no objection otherwise to give new electricity connection,

subject to compliance of all due formalities by the petitioner, including completion of the meter room for giving the electricity connection.

In such view of the matter, WPA No.

11998 of 2023 is allowed, thereby directing the WBSEDCL to give a new electricity connection to the petitioner at the premises-in-question, subject to the petitioner completing a proper meter room for such purpose and complying with all other due formalities in law. The connection, it is expected, shall be given within a week after the petitioner intimating the WBSEDCL regarding the completion of the meter room and upon compliance of other formalities.

There will be no order as to costs.

Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
