1. The issue brought to the court by the petitioners is that the petitioner no.1 despite being the contractor for certain 'shore handling work' of the Board of Major Port Authority Shyama Prasad Mukherjee is being faced with the difficulty of its 400 workers not being issued monthly permits for accessing and working in the Port area.

2. Learned counsel appearing for the Port Authorities submits that the petitioners should be called upon to provide particulars of the workers as well as the required manpower for the work which is required to be done inside the Port area.

3. W.P.A.12157 of 2023 is disposed of by directing the petitioners to provide all the particulars of the list of the workers as mentioned in the petitioners' mail of

3rd May, 2023 as well as the required manpower by 6 p.m. tomorrow i.e. 18th May, 2023. The Port Authorities, who have remained silent after 3rd May, 2023, shall take requisite steps in taking a decision for issuing the monthly permits by 26th May, 2023. It is made clear that the respondents shall not take any unnecessary steps to hamper the petitioners' operations which the petitioners have been carrying on since 2019.
