This is an application for expeditious disposal of the case being N 225/2020 arising out of Rajarhat Police Station Case No. 350 of 2020 dated October 18, 2020, under Sections 20 (b) (ii) ( c )/29 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 pending before the learned Additional Sessions Judge, 6th Court at Barasat, North 24 Parganas.

It has been submitted by the learned advocate for the petitioner that after filing of the charge sheet, the learned Judge in the Court below could not proceed with the trial.

In this pandemic situation, the delay in conducting the trial cannot be attributed to the learned Judge in the Court below. However, keeping in mind the innocuous nature of the prayer made in the petition, this application is disposed of with a direction upon the learned Judge in the Court below to make an endeavour to

start the trial as early as possible, preferably within three months from the resumption of the normal functioning of the Court. CRR 1639 of 2021 is disposed of.
