PP Mr. Debojyoti Deb ... for the State-respondent(s) The petitioner is in custody for one year seven months and there is no possibility of the trial being concluded in the near future. Learned advocate, therefore, prays that the petitioner may be released on bail as the punishment prescribed is for a term imprisonment. Learned advocate for the State submits that on 24th June, 2026, date has been fixed for examination of the accused under section 313 of the Cr.P.C.

Having considered the advanced stage of the case, I am not inclined to release the petitioner on bail. Hence, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is Rejected.

However, the learned trial court is directed to pronounce the verdict preferably by 31st July, 2026. Accordingly, CRM (R) 56 of 2026 is dismissed. Report submitted by the State be kept with the record.
