Roy ...for the alleged contemnor This contempt application has been filed alleging violation of the order dated December 6, 2023. By the said order, this Court declined to entertain the petitioner's prayer for compassionate appointment in the absence of any scheme formulated by the University of Gour Banga for that purpose. However, this Court had expressed its expectation that the University would frame appropriate regulations governing the appointment, promotion, and terms and conditions of service of non-teaching staff employed in colleges affiliated with the University of Gour Banga.

Learned counsel for the petitioner has drawn the attention of this Court to a letter dated October 20, 2024, issued in response to an application submitted under the Right to Information Act, 2005. The said letter indicates that the University, in due course and subject to the approval of the competent

authorities, intends to take necessary steps to amend the relevant statutes of the University.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the University submits that steps have already been initiated for framing the rules as desired by this Court.

In view of the above, this Court is of the opinion that there has been no deliberate or willful violation of the order dated December 6, 2023, passed by this Court.

Accordingly, CPAN 937 of 2025 is disposed of. (Kausik Chanda, J.)
