The petitioner claims interest on delayed payment of terminal benefits. The petitioner superannuated from service of the WBTCL on 31st January, 2017. He received his terminal benefits of Rs.9,81,539/- towards provident fund on 20.04.2017 and Rs. 8,77,904/- gratuity and leave encashment on 27.04.2017.

The petitioner is entitled to interest for the period from 01.02.2017 to 20.04.2017 at the rate of 6 per cent per annum towards provident fund and from 01.02.2017 to

27.04.2017 at the rate of 6 per cent per annum towards gratuity and leave encashment. Let the same be paid to the petitioner by the WBTCL within a period of one month from date.

In default of payment as directed above, the rate of interest shall stand increased to 9 per cent per annum.

The writ petition is disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.
