The petitioner claims interest on delayed payment of terminal benefits. The petitioner superannuated from service of the WBTCL on 31st March, 2021. He received his terminal benefits of Rs.10,10,437/- towards provident fund on 30.06.2021 and Rs. 7,19,890/- gratuity and leave encashment on 23.06.2021.

The petitioner is entitled to interest for the period from 01.04.2021 to 30.06.2021 at the rate of 6 per cent per annum towards

provident fund and from 01.04.2021 to 23.06.2021 at the rate of 6 per cent per annum towards gratuity and leave encashment. Let the same be paid to the petitioner by the WBTCL within a period of one month from date.

In default of payment as directed above, the rate of interest shall stand increased to 9 per cent per annum.

The writ petition is disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.
