Affidavit-of-service filed on behalf of the petitioner is taken on record.

Inspite of service of notice, respondent nos.8 & 9 are not represented.

Learned advocate for the petitioner alleges torture and threat at the instance of petitioner's son and daughter-in-law being respondent nos.8 & 9 and to that extent a complaint had been lodged with the concerned police authorities.

Prayer is made in this writ petition for taking steps by the concerned police authorities which would prevent respondent nos.8 & 9 from threatening the petitioner. 5.
Mr. Suryaneel Das, learned Additional Government Pleader representing the State respondents has filed a communication of Officer-in-Charge, Khandaghosh Police Station, Purba Bardhaman dated 22nd June, 2026 and same is taken on record. Copy of the said communication dated 22nd June, 2026 is made over to the learned advocate representing the petitioner.

It is disclosed in the said communication dated 22nd June, 2026 that there are complaints and countercomplaints giving rise to separate criminal prosecutions. Respondent no.9 being the daughter-inlaw of the petitioner lodged first complaint which gave rise to a criminal prosecution being Khandaghosh P.S. Case No.10 of 2023 dated 10th January, 2023 and same was culminated into filing of charge-sheet being no.22 of 2023 dated 31st January, 2023 before the jurisdictional Magistrate.

There was another complaint by the respondent no.9 against the petitioner which transformed into another criminal prosecution being Khandaghosh P.S. Case No.192 of 2025 dated 5th July, 2025 under certain provisions of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and in connection therewith charge-sheet being no.211 of 2025 dated 30th July, 2025 was also submitted. 8.
Thereafter, having received the complaint of the petitioner a criminal prosecution being Khandaghosh P.S. Case No.191 of 2026 dated 22nd June, 2026 has been initiated under certain provisions of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 against the respondent nos.8 & 9.

Investigating Agency is directed to expedite the investigation in connection with Khandaghosh P.S. Case No.191 of 2026 dated 22nd June, 2026 and take the criminal prosecution to its logical conclusion by filing report before the jurisdictional Magistrate.
10. However, concerned police authorities are directed to maintain peace and tranquility and to see that no untoward incident takes place.
