The petitioner claims interest on delayed payment of terminal benefits. The petitioner superannuated from service of the WBTCL on 31st March, 2016. He received his terminal benefits of Rs.5,91,673/- towards provident fund on 19.08.2016 and Rs. 4,61,520/- gratuity and leave encashment on 04.08.2016.

The petitioner is entitled to interest for the period from 01.04.2016 to 19.08.2016 at the rate of 6 per cent per annum towards provident fund and from 01.04.2016 to

04.08.2016 at the rate of 6 per cent per annum towards gratuity and leave encashment. Let the same be paid to the petitioner by the WBTCL within a period of one month from date.

In default of payment as directed above, the rate of interest shall stand increased to 9 per cent per annum.

The writ petition is disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.
