The petitioner claims interest on delayed payment of terminal benefits. The petitioner superannuated from service of the WBTCL on 28th February, 2021. He received his terminal benefits of Rs.50,31,583/- on 05.05.2021.

The petitioner is entitled to interest for the period from 01.03.2021 to 05.05.2021 at the rate of 6 per cent per annum. Let the same be paid to the petitioner by the WBTCL within a period of one month from date.

In default of payment as directed above, the rate of interest shall stand increased to 9 per cent per annum.

The concerned Treasury Officer shall verify as to whether the petitioner is present in person along with the documents of identity before making any disbursement as directed hereinabove. In the event the petitioner is not present, the matter shall be reported to the Registrar General of this Court for appropriate action.

The writ petition is disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.

8.

All parties are directed to act on a server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
