1. The petitioner's prayer for bail was rejected on February 28, 2023 by a co-ordinate Bench in CRM (DB) No. 769 of 2023. He renews his prayer for bail primarily on the ground of long detention.

2. We have seen the material in the case diary. There are eye-witnesses naming this petitioner as being involved in the brutal murder of one of the victims. One of the victims has also implicated this petitioner.

3. Considering the material-on-record and the gravity of the charge, we are not inclined to allow this application at this stage.

4. CRM (DB) 1533 of 2024 is dismissed.

5. However, since the petitioner has been in custody for about 2 years 4 months, we direct the learned Trial Court to expedite the trial to the fullest extent possible and bring the same to an early conclusion, preferably within 18 months from the next date fixed for the trial. Signed By :
