Union of India and others (Through Video Conference) Mr. Kallol Guha Thakurta, Advocate ..for the petitioner Ms. Sabita Roy, Advocate ..for the Union of India Mr. Guha Thakurta, learned counsel submits that though his name is appearing in the cause list but this petition has not been filed by him.

Having perused the record, we find that this writ petition was filed in the year 2014 raising a grievance that the benefit of Agricultural Debt Waiver and Debt Relief Scheme which was announced by the Finance Minister in his budget speech for 2008-09, was not extended to certain farmers who were entitled to the benefit of the said Scheme. It is not clear if the said Scheme is still in operation.

Record reflects that though certain representations were filed but they remain unresponded. The petition is pending for last 7 years and it is being repeatedly adjourned.

Hence, we are of the opinion that no purpose will be served in keeping the petition pending, therefore we dispose of this petition with liberty to the petitioner to

WPA 11035 of 2014 approach the competent authority with a proper representation if he has any surviving grievance. On receipt of such a representation, the competent authority will duly consider it in accordance with law expeditiously. The present petition is accordingly disposed of.
