This is an application for expeditious disposal of N-214/2020 under Sections 27(b) of Drugs & Cosmetics Act & adding Section 21 (b) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 pending before the learned Additional Sessions Judge, 6th Court, Barasat, North 24 Parganas.

The petitioner prays for expeditious hearing of the trial. It has been submitted by the learned advocate for the petitioner that after filing of the charge sheet, a supplementary charge sheet has also been submitted.

This case has been filed in the year, 2020 and in this pandemic situation, the delay at all if any, in conducting the trial cannot be attributed to the learned Judge in the Court below. However, keeping in mind the innocuous nature of the prayer made in the petition, this application is disposed of with a direction upon the learned Judge in the Court below to make an endeavour to

conclude the trial preferably, within one and half years from the commencement of the evidence.

CRR 1656 of 2021 is disposed of.
