Petitioner is in custody for more than six years. He prays for bail.

Learned Advocate for the State submits that the case is at a mature stage. Arguments are being advanced before the trial Judge.

We have considered the materials on record. Bail prayer of co-accused was turned down in April, 2023 in CRM (DB) 351 of 2023. Thereafter, matter progressed and all prosecution witnesses have been examined. Arguments are being advanced before the learned Judge. At this penultimate stage and in view of the gravity of the offence which, if proved, would attract life imprisonment, we do not consider it prudent to enlarge the petitioner on bail.

Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected.

Needless to mention, we hope and trust that the proceeding would be taken to its logical conclusion at the earliest.
