Grievance of the petitioner is that he is being threatened regularly by respondent nos. 7, 8, 10 & 11 in connection with Sonamukhi Police Station case being No. 183/25 dated 26th May, 2025 but the concerned police authorities are not taking steps to restrain those respondents.

Learned advocate representing the petitioner submits that on 24th May, 2025 sister of the petitioner was alleged to have been murdered by her in-laws and in the meantime husband of the deceased has surrendered before the concerned police authorities and is under custody. However, allegations are leveled also against aforesaid

respondents who are constantly threatening the petitioner but police has become mute spectator. Report has been filed by the learned advocate representing the State respondents which is prepared by Inspector-in-Charge, Sonamukhi Police Station, Bankura dated 5th June, 2025 and same is taken on record. In the report it is indicated that petitioner is staying at a place which is 25 kilometers and 6 Kilometers away from the place of residence of the private respondents. It is also stated that no formal complaint has been lodged by the petitioner against the private respondents alleging that the petitioner is being threatened by those respondents. It is submitted that in connection with the incident of murder which took place on 24th May, 2025 criminal case has been initiated being Sonamukhi Police Station case No. 183/25 dated 26th May, under Section 85/103(1)/3(5) of BNS.

In view of the respective submissions made on behalf of the parties and taking note of the report dated 5th June, 2025 this Court finds no useful purpose would be sub-served in keeping this writ petition pending. However, Court grants leave to the petitioner to bring it to the notice of

the concerned police authorities if petitioner is being threatened by the private respondents. In the event complaint is lodged before the concerned police authority alleging that the petitioner is being threatened, concerned police authority shall take appropriate steps in accordance with law.

Writ petition stands disposed of.
